Lamb's Ear

Did you know that lamb's ear, a member of the Stachys family, was used as a bandage for minor cuts right up until cloth and band aids became the popular choice?  That's how it earned one of its nicknames:  woundwort.

I have it planted along my front walkway because I love it's soft, furry leaves and its durability.  Finding out that it has a medicinal use just makes me love it more!

    We love ours up here in North Carolina! Always digging up extras and passing them along to family and friends. They're a terrific bee magnet, too, so it's a win-win plant for the garden!

    They are wonderfully prolific growers, aren't they! Very easy to divide and share. But my kids will think I've gone off the deep end when I suggest that they put a lamb's ear leaf over their scrapes, LOL!
